Did You Know…Tabby Info

Here is a great post from True Rescue about tabby’s. This is where we adopted Buddy. You can find more information about this wonderful organization at http://www.TrueRescue.org .

Lots of great info here and info on a cutie-pie tabby ready for adoption!

“Here I am “just another tabby”…or so you may think! My name is Cara, and I have some fun tabby facts for you! In case you didn’t know, the term “tabby” refers to our coat pattern, it is not a breed. Add to that, there are 4 different tabby patterns, and no one will ever be identical! The tabby pattern was thought to have been the very first domesticated cat pattern, as our ancestors were tigers, after all! Most of us have a very defined “M” on our foreheads….just look at mine! Oh, and one other fun fact….the term “tabby” was named after a silk in Baghdad. Our fur is silk, and we are highly coveted for those who know best.

So now you know I’m not “just another tabby”, but I am “just another stray” unfortunately. I came into True Rescue after being pulled out of an apartment complex, where I was apparently dumped and scavenging for food. I try not to think about the time before now, as it was too frightening. Imagine, treating your fine silk the way I was treated! Put me back on my pedestal….please! True Rescue did “fix” me right up. I’ve had shots, I’ve had a combo test, I’ve been de-flead and de-wormed…I mean, I feel like a car who has just been through an overhaul at the mechanic’s shop. I’m under a year old, at around 8 months old, and you can just scoop me right up, since I prefer to be held non-stop. They say I won’t be at the shelter long, and I hope that means because I’m going to a great home. Hopefully that is the case, and you can make that happen! (the link below is your bridge to me – see you soon)”
