Bring Your Kid to Work Day — also known as the day of the year when you can finally put an end to those weird, vague descriptions your kids give when they’re asked what Mom and Dad do all day. Always the 4th Thursday in April, 37 million Americans participated in 2018, the last year it took place due to COVID. Rosie took Crosby and Buddy to her home office for a day to do office work.

“So this is where I work. We’ll take a short tour before we get started.. There is a computer, fax, scanner, copier, bookcase, file cabinets and 2 desks.”
“Don’t forget our cat tree, Mom. And the bathroom and cafeteria.”

“You’re right, Crosby. Mom doesn’t use these but you can. We’ll have a lunch break in 2 hours. “
“Are these all the people you work with, Mom? Is the lady in blue the boss? She’s pretty! “
“Well, Buddy, I guess you could say that. These are all my friends in the office. “

“This is another of Dad’s hotrods. He really likes this one a lot and has had it since 1996! And the sign that says ‘ROSIE’ was given to me by nice people from SONY Japan that I worked with. The Japanese letters tell them how to pronounce my name phonetically. And the glass trophy award was given to me at Realty World. “

“A wonderful friend that lives in Japan sent me this mascot of his favorite baseball team. His name is Takahiro Washino. We met him at a concert by our favorite band, Restless Heart around 1996.”

“Happily Maui’ed – that’s funny! Dad had curly hair back then! You were young!”
“Yes, Buddy, we were young! That picture was taken on our honeymoon in Hawaii. “

“This is your Grandma Elsa, Dad’s mom and this is Grandpa Les and Grandma Elsa.”

“These are my clowns. The green one has 2 sides – one is a happy face, one is a sad face. I turn it around depending what my mood is!”

“Who is this lady?”
“She is a doll, but I don’t play with her. She has nice clothes and likes to dress up, like I do.”

“Wow, these are cool paintings with all the olives acting like people!! Who is the guy in the pictures? He must be famous – he signed it “ROSIE, YOU ROCK!”
“He is famous and painted these. His name is Michael Godard. The picture I am holding in the photo with him is called “Party Like A Rock Star” and is hanging on the wall above my computer now. OK, time to get a little work done. Buddy, can you get some paper out of the cabinet for the printer?”

“I think I found it… but I kind of messed things up looking for it. “
“Crosby, can you help your brother get the paper out?”

“Zzzzz, huh? What? I thought it was nap time. When’s nap time? I am in the executive chair and I say it’s nap time!”
“Crosby, we just have a little bit of computer work to do first.”

“I’m proof reading for you, Mom. But I think I used the editing tool wrong and you might have to fix it!”

“Who is this purrty kitty? I like him!”
“Buddy, that’s an older cat featured in Paw Print magazine in an article called ‘Golden Years, Tips for Navigating The Homestretch With Your Super Senior’.”
“Are you going to keep us when we get old, Mom?”
“Of course, Buddy. We will keep you forever.”
“Crosby is in the Inbox, sorting things to file away. It’s our break time, Mom. This work stuff is exhausting!! We’ll be back after lunch.”

And that’s all, folks!
