The Little One…

“Mom, did Crosby have a baby?”

“Of course not Buddy, he’s a boy like you are – boys can make babies but not deliver a baby.”

“Than who delivered him? I saw a little guy that looks a lot like Crosby in the bathroom yesterday.”

“That’s Newman,  and we just adopted him from True Rescue! He had been trapped under the floor of a house,  stuck in the insulation. The people got him out and brought him to the rescue because they had big dogs and couldn’t keep the little guy.  He was so cute and tiny, and he needed a new family to love and care for him forever.   I knew he would be a great little brother to you, Crosby, and Nicky… so Dad and I brought him home yesterday.  He’s staying in the bathroom for a week or so until he gets a little bigger.  He only weighs 2 pounds right now and is just 10 weeks old, so he’s got to get a little bigger and stronger before he can come out to play with you guys.”

“He looks like a possum in this picture – are you sure he’s not a possum? Can we name him “Possum”, Mom?”

” No Buddy, he’s not a possum! The shelter named him Newman, so we’ll stick with that for now unless we think of something else soon, but not Possum!!”

“I still like Possum…”
