“Crosby, Mom says we have to make New Year’s revolutions. How do we do that?”

“Buddy, it’s New Year’s RESOLUTIONS, NOT REVOLUTIONS! Wikipedia says A New Year’s resolution is a tradition in which a person resolves to continue good practices, change an undesired trait or behavior, accomplish a personal goal, or otherwise improve their behavior at the beginning of a calendar year. The dictionary says it is a promise to do something differently in the new year.”

“Crosby, I can think of a few…how about you?”

“Yes, I can think of some…you go first, Buddy!”

“OK, Crosby. I resolve to stop eating food out of your bowl & Nicky’s. Dad says I have a fat belly and need to lose weight!”

“That’s a good one, Buddy. I resolve to stop leaving presents for Mom outside of the litter box!”

“Crosby, I resolve to stop before starting to scratch something… especially the couch!”

“Buddy, I resolve to be nicer when getting my nails trimmed.”

“Crosby, I resolve to let Mom and Dad sleep past 7 a.m.”

“Buddy, I resolve not to walk on Mom’s stomach 5 times a night!”

“Crosby, I resolve to catch the red dot. This New Year’s Eve, I am going to shake my tiny fisted paws in the air, thinking “Curse you, red dot! Next year, you will be mine!”

“Buddy, I resolve to explore higher education…by climbing on the kitchen counter to find my treats and explore the top of the dresser, studying the swat-ability of various baubles.”

“Crosby, I resolve to find a way to get a second breakfast! I need to master the “pretend like I never had a first breakfast so I can get a second one” trick.

“Buddy, last but not least, I need to try “tiny box living” – if I fits, I sits!

“And we both resolve to realize that the vet is there for a reason, and it’s actually not a bad one after all.”

“Blah, blah, blah…Miss Junior says she bets you’ll break all those resolutions in the first week of 2023!”

And our newest rescue kitty, Nicky, says “I resolve to come out of hiding more often and take some “Me Time” – it’s always good to reflect after a long day and nap more…”
